Volunteers and Support Needed
They may be called volunteers but to our staff and animals, they are heroes. In every capacity they serve, volunteers are a highly valued resource to our society and are making a very real difference to the lives of so many animals.
You can give just 1- 2 hours a week to help us.
Volunteering with the Animals
Cat Care Volunteers
We need regular volunteers to help with the daily cleaning and emptying litter boxes and setting out food and toys for our cats and kittens.
Volunteers must be over 14 years old to work with the cats and kittens.
Dog Care Volunteers
Our dogs need cleaning (poo included) and feeding. They also need providing human contact and attention.
Some dogs come to us with little or no training. Dog walkers take our orphan dogs out of the shelter and teach them to walk politely on a lead. Dogs with good basic manners are much easier to adopt into loving new homes. Full training is given to volunteers.
Volunteers must be over 16 years old to walk a dog and confident handling dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Other small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice and turtles are also housed in the clinic area. Work includes cleaning cages, preparing bedding, toys and food for these homeless animals. Volunteers must be 14 years and over.
Socialisation of kittens and cats is important and its something that younger volunteers can assist with (if accompanied by a parent or caregiver).
Non Animal Care Volunteers
We not only need help with our animals but we need help with our centre. We need volunteers to help us with our maintenance and also our one off projects:
Everyone is welcome!
Fund Raising Volunteers
We are reliant on our community to fund our activities and support us in caring for our animals.
We need volunteers to help us with our fund raising events either collecting in our national appeal or helping with individual events such as baking cup cakes for our cup cake day, providing raffle prizes or manning our stall at key events.
